Offshore wind has gained popularity as an alternative green resource in recent years and the AWEA (American Wind Energy Association), a partner of Focus the Nation, has been behind the front.

With CanWEA, AWEA’s Canadian counterpart, the North American Offshore Wind Conference will commence October 5th through the 7th, 2010 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The conference will highlight the changing composition of the energy industry within North America. Seeking to inspire collaborations between project developers, energy consultants, entrepreneurs, and government officials alike the conference will be geared towards the planning and implementation of offshore wind programs.

Legislation focusing on growing and sustaining wind energy as an alternative to fossil fuels, signed by President Obama last year, has spurred positive speculation on the future of wind energy. The AWEA is continuing its efforts in the alternative energy sphere to support a renewable electricity standard. AWEA’s CEO Denise Bode calls citizens and Senators to support the initiative in a video located on their website.

AWEA posted their First Quarter Market Report asserting that total wind installations in the U.S. have reached 35,600 MW capacity.
