"Monks with bows and arrows and Marshall stacks." Quite possibly my favorite line in the recent Dot Earth blog post about our model-in-transition and our upcoming Youth Leadership Retreat, ReCharge!
Garett Brennan, our motivated and musical Executive Director, answers the question "What do you think the human species should be when we decide to grow up?"
Andrew Revkin, from the NYTimes, recently interviewed our very own Garett Brennan to get the Focus the Nation update. With such topics covered like our multi-quadrant team building (Innovators, Storytellers, Politicos, and Technicians), investing in Generation E, and dreaming democracy. For the full post, check it out here.
ReCharge! applications are still being accepted until June 22nd.

Portland's weather is a toss-up, but inside we're working on sifting through the applicants for our ReCharge! Retreat.
Thanks to all who applied, we're excited to meet this new crop of rising clean energy leaders! We will be announcing the final delegates Friday, July 1st. Stay tuned!
Our Forums-to-Action outreach is kicking off and we're reaching out across the 50 states to implement solid clean energy teams that will produce brilliant community energy projects. Our excellent Clean Energy Leadership interns are on the phones dialing in Campus Advisors to help guide these outstanding students this week and we're honing in on our target schools.
We also want to remind you to keep an eye out for our social media updates on Facebook and Twitter as we are rejuvinating our office with a couple vibrant murals (envisioned by local artist, Eben Dickinson) and posting our daily office going-ons.

Props to Advisory Board member Ross Chambless for doing some citizen journalism and scouting out Salt Lake City's electricity in a podcast series. Check out part one of his KUER audio report from the University of Utah! Great investigating, Ross! We're excited for part two!

Would security lines be less aggravating if your flight was powered by renewables? At the Paris Air Show this week, three planes exhibited what may soon be the future. Two flew with biofuel blends and one soared over Europe on solar power.
On this side of the pond, Focus the Nation partner Climate Solutions has been leading the way in aviation biofuel with the Sustainable Aviation Fuels Northwest project. We hope to be enjoying our airline peanuts on a sustainable flight soon thanks to these Innovators!
