Bill Barnes

Associate Professor of Economics University of Portland's Pamplin School of Business

 

Bill Barnes, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Portland's Pamplin School of Business, with a concurrent appointment in Environmental Science. His research interests include barriers and pathways to clean technology and sustainable production systems, performance outcomes associated with CSR and sustainability, and energy and climate change education. He teaches principles of micro and macroeconomics, environmental economics, and economics and metrics for sustainability in the undergraduate programs. At the MBA level, he teaches economics and metrics for sustainability. He chairs the University of Portland Presidential Advisory Committee on Sustainability and frequently speaks in the community on issues related to climate change education and climate solutions, including clean technology policy. In 2008 he was one of the main organizers for the Focus the Nation Chiles Center stadium event at the University of Portland, which attracted more than 3200 audience members, was broadcast live on Oregon Public Broadcasting radio, and included participation from Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, Congressman Earl Blumenauer, and students across the state.
