How Do I Organize an Event?

Our Organizing Guide lays out an easy to use Ten Step Process for creating a world-class event which will engage your community on this important issue. The National Organizers are here to help in any way possible, from reaching out to your community to thinking creatively about fund raising. Do not hesitate to ask them for help or advise at any point in the process.

The first step is to think about building an organizing team, do you know people in your community who would be interested in helping out or participating in this event? Start by reaching out and seeing if they'd be interested in working on joining your Organizing Team.

Why April 18th?

We've selected April 18th because it is a Saturday, when elected officials will be in their districts and able to attend a town-hall in person and community members won't have to worry about missing work to attend. It's also the perfect time to strengthen any plans you might already have for Earth Day and with town-halls with elected officials in every congressional district in America, our leaders will have to pay attention to the fact that the American people want comprehensive energy and climate legislation now.

April 18th is a great time to host a campus and community town-hall, but it's not the only day that you can organize an effective Focus the Nation event. Look at your schedule and see what's right for you -- then let us, and the world know what you are planning by posting events and blogs on your district page. That's what this website is for: highlighting the amazing work that organizers like you are doing around the country to prioritize our clean energy future.
