Richard is a first year student at the University of Portland, majoring in German as well as Marketing and Sustainability. He is originally from the San Juan Islands in Northwest Washington. Aside from falling in love with the City of Portland, he enjoys eating prawns, shrimp, salmon and crab. He enjoys watching sunsets over the Guemes Channel, and misses the smell of low tide. His island-dwelling days were spent selling (but mostly eating) seafood at a small crab shack. In high school, he was very involved in the nerdiest extra-curriculars imaginable: His Knowledge Bowl team took first place at the state level in Washington. He can speak Russian, having gone there twice, and French, having gone there once, and is in the process of learning German, obviously.
